- 1. Light: Place in bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves. Can grow in partial shade (ideal for indoors or shaded balconies). 2. Watering: Keep the soil evenly moist, not soggy. Water when the top inch of soil feels dry. Reduce watering during dormancy (usually in winter). 3. Humidity: Requires high humidity. Mist the leaves regularly or use a humidity tray/humidifier. 4. Temperature: Prefers warm temperatures: 18°C to 30°C. Keep away from cold drafts and below 15°C. 5. Soil: Use well-draining, rich organic soil. Ideal mix: garden soil + cocopeat + compost or leaf mold. 6. Fertilizer: Feed every 2–3 weeks during active growth (spring and summer). Use a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half strength. 7. Potting: Use pots with drainage holes. Repot every year or when tubers multiply. 8. Dormancy: Caladium may go dormant in winter – leaves may die back. Reduce watering and keep tubers in dry soil until spring. 9. Propagation: By dividing tubers during spring before growth begins. 10. Caution: Toxic to pets and children if ingested – keep out of reach.
